Scholarship Information

First Trust Credit Union’s Board of Directors is excited to announce that the 2020 scholarship applications are now available. EIGHT $1,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2020, to graduating high school seniors based on the geographic location of their high school. First Trust branches in Michigan City, La Porte, Valparaiso, and Wheatfield will each award two scholarships.

The first $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a four year degree. The second $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing an Apprenticeship, Associates, or Certification in a selected field.

A special one-time $1,600 scholarship will also be awarded in 2020 to a high school senior graduating from Michigan City High School who is planning to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Education.  This one-time scholarship is being awarded in honor of Dennis Knaup, long-time Board Member of First Trust Credit Union and retired Michigan City teacher.

Scholarship recipients must be a member of First Trust Credit Union to be eligible. Becoming a member is quick and easy. Membership information and an overview of the many products and services First Trust offers may be reviewed by clicking MEMBERSHIP and SERVICES. Scholarship recipients will be awarded at the student’s Senior Awards Night Program, and are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16th, 2020.
